What are CBSE Class 10 Science PYQs?

How do PYQs help in board preparation?
They do five jobs that a textbook cannot do:
- They show you the real level. Textbook exercises and board questions are not always the same difficulty or style. PYQs calibrate you.
- They reveal how concepts are tested. The same idea (say, displacement reactions or the lens formula) can appear as a 1-mark MCQ, a 3-mark explanation or a 4-mark case. You learn to expect all three.
- They teach answer depth. Marks tell you how much to write. A 2-mark answer needs two distinct points; a 5-mark answer needs structure.
- They expose weak chapters early. Wrong answers cluster around specific chapters and subtopics, which tells you where to revise.
- They build exam stamina and timing, especially when you attempt a whole paper under time.

Do exact PYQs repeat in the board exam?
Do not count on the same question appearing word for word. What repeats is the concept and the style: the same chapters, the same kinds of reasoning, the same diagram-based or numerical patterns. Students who practise PYQs are not memorising answers; they are getting comfortable with what the board likes to test. That is why understanding the explanation matters more than remembering the option.

When should you start solving PYQs?
Start a chapter's PYQs as soon as you have finished studying that chapter once, not after the whole syllabus. Early PYQs will feel hard, and that is the point: they show what you did not really learn. Full papers come later, once most chapters are covered.
